New ‘Lost Art Promotion’ from Yu-Gi-Oh!

Konami will be offering a new Lost Art Promotion next year to give players a chance to get a half dozen cards with artwork never before available outside of Asia.
Like the 2018 Lost Art Promotion (see “‘Yu-Gi-Oh!’ ‘Lost Art Promotion’”), a different Lost Art card will be available each month, only through Official Tournament Stores. To be eligible, customers must purchase at least $30 worth of sealed Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG products, which will award them one free Lost Art Promotion card.

The promotion will be split into two three-month segments: January-March, and June-August. The six cards that make up the promo were all part of Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game releases in Asia, from as many as 18 years ago:

Ring of Destruction
Call of the Haunted
Dark Ruler Ha Des
Lesser Fiend
Skill Drain
Soul Drain

This is the first time that these cards will be made available to the rest of the world with the original Asian art. The promotion will kick off with Ring of Destruction in January.

Supplies of the Lost Art Promotion cards will be limited, and they will be available only while supplies last.

Magic: the Gathering UMA promos revealed

Quite a few people on Facebook have been posting some promos akin to the mythic edition box cards that they received from Wizards of the Coast in the mail.

Some people are speculating that these will become the new buy a box promos eventually. Interesting….

This deck is primarily focused on the discard aspect of the game and tries to go the long game by winning with a flipped Nicol Bolas or Dream Eater/Doom Whisperer beats. It also has 3 copies of The Eldest Reborn to alternatively revive its lost threats or its opponents discarded threats to close out the game. There’s always a few variants of this deck recently that have posted some success online, some as simply UB decks without the red splash for everyone’s favorite dragon planeswalker.

With GP new Jersey only days away, it remains to be seen if this deck has the goods to put up results in a major event. It will probably not be a big percentage of the metagame, which may give it some small advantage: at the very least it should dodge Nullhide Ferox

UFS Platinum “Sheep Man” Review

A weird but string UFS Platinum character.

Goldie's avatar

It’s been talked about for months, it’s finally here, and we’re ready to take a look! Starting with the most hyped character of Universal Fighting System’s first set in it’s PLATINUM SERIES; We have Sheep Man.

Does he live up to his hype or is he destined for the barn of bad characters….

Sheep Man is an aggressive 6 hander with free bonuses to damage and speed to your Charge, Stun, or Breaker attacks. He also has staging area control with his second ability, which allows you to stack a foundation on top of your opponent’s deck, and replace it with a weaker one. The stipulations to these abilities are, the bonuses to his attacks will only apply if your opponent’s card pool is clear, and he must pay 2 vitality to use his second ability. This character is STRONG! Here we have a character that can give free…

UFS Platinum “Bubble Man” Review

Very short and sweet. Like that time was taken looking at these other UFS Platinum characters from Megaman

Goldie's avatar

Incoming the master of multiples and momentum BUBBLE MAN!!!

To put it bluntly, Bubble Man is a simple character. He gains momentum, and poops out big multiples. Is he good? Yes, in my opinion he is good. However, in my opinion, his design is lacking. Let’s dive in shall we.

Bubble Man’s bottom ability is powerful. Being able to pump damage on multiple attacks scales huge! Suddenly Cowboy Battery is capable of spitting out 14 damage, Ice Slasher 18 damage, or his attack Bubble Lead a whopping 32 damage! There is no question that this ability is powerful, it is a little boring though. Lot’s of big numbers for free on a bunch of attacks. There is certainly a market for that.

Bubble Man’s other ability works well to compliment his first, and is reminiscent of Kyo*. Gaining momentum on demand is always a good thing, especially when it let’s…

UFS Platinum “Plant Man” Review

Really good synopsis of lesser played but fun UFS characters

Goldie's avatar

(Submit a deck list for any of the Platinum characters and I’ll feature it on my next review.  Community interaction!)

He’s fast and his health bar wont go down! PLANT MAN JOINS THE SCENE!

Plant Man has an interesting character design, he’s definitely one of my favorites out of Platinum. He’s one of the few characters with three abilities, which is more uncommon on 7 hand size characters than anywhere else. Do his abilities hold up, are they overpowerd? Let’s take a look.

Plant Man’s bottom two abilities are basically two halves of one ability. They both scale off of the same variable, however they trigger at different times.  The speed during the enhance step, and the life gain at damage.  If you spend momentum for abilities during the enhance step, the life gain will weaken. By design he’s supposed to scale hard into late game. I see him starting…

UFS Platinum “Wood Man” Review.

Great analysis of a sweet character from the Mega man series

Goldie's avatar

Early in the morning and stiff, Wood Man rises!

Wood Man is a defensive 6 hand size character that can build foundations, and add blocks to his hand. Is his ability solid? Absolutely, maybe too solid. Let’s dive in to find out why.

Wood man’s ability is INSANE. He adds a block to his hand, from his staging area, and replaces it with a card form the top of his deck. Since he can pick up face down foundations, it’s soft drawing a card, since he can pick it up on defense or offense next turn. This makes his entire staging area a second hand. I call him Powerful Assassin Man, because that’s essentially what he is, especially since he give you a check bonus after using his enhance. The craziest thing about this ability is that he can recycle cards that dip into your staging area for their ability…

Keyforge: Organized Play Program revealed

Fantasy Flight Games has announced an organized play program to support its upcoming “Unique Deck Game” KeyForge, which will kick off with an in-store “Pre-Launch” event on November 10, followed by the game’s official launch on November 15.

Announced earlier this year, KeyForge is a card game designed by Richard Garfield in which every player’s deck is automatically unique out of the box (see “Richard Garfield’s ‘KeyForge’ Puts a New Spin on ‘Unique’”).

Fantasy Flight is promoting the release of the game through a “Pre-Launch” event which will be held on November 10. Participating retailers will have a limited number of KeyForge Archon Decks available for sale, as well as “Learn-to-Play” stations to demo the game. Participants will receive a KeyForge lanyard, and those who purchase an Archon Deck can get a House pin, while supplies last.

The full game itself will release on November 15, and retailers are invited to hold “Launch Parties” that will include a trio of player activities. First, there will be a “Learn to Play” game using fixed decks and the QuickStart Rules, with participants earning Chain Tracker cards. Second, players are invited to register their unique decks in the “Call of the Master Vault” event, earning a House card. Finally, the “Launch Party Tournament” challenges players to compete over four rounds playing different decks each time and earning another House card.

Following the “Launch Party” events, Fantasy Flight will begin the first arc in the game’s on-going organized play scheme, called “Dawn of Discovery.” This phase will focus on getting players up to speed and allowing them to discover the variety of playing styles that the game offers. The program will include weekly play events as well as monthly tournaments offering collectible prizes.
