Legend Story Studios will release Flesh and Blood: Welcome to Rathe, the first set for a new trading card game, into retail stores in the US, Australia, and New Zealand on October 11. This game has been in development for seven years, but is now ready for a full retail release, the company said in an announcement.

Flesh and Blood is set in the fantasy world of Rathe, where players equip various hero cards with weapons and armor to do battle against each other. The first Flesh and Blood set, Welcome to Rathe, includes four heroes to start: Dorinthea Ironsong (Warrior), Bravo, Showstopper (Guardian), Rhinar, Reckless Rampage, and Katsu, the Wanderer (Ninja). The game features a unique resource system that allows players to play out their full hands on each turn, and gameplay that rewards player skill over luck of the draw.

Legendary Story Studios will offer Flesh and Blood organized play programs for retailers in an effort to build play communities. They are also planning an international tournament circuit, dubbed The Calling, with cash prize pools.

Flesh and Blood: Welcome to Rathe will come in 66-card pre-constructed Hero Decks which will retail for $10.99, and 15-card booster packs which are priced at $3.49. Boosters are packaged into 24-count displays which is enough to support an eight-person draft pod.

WIZARDS OF THE COAST REVEALS ‘MAGIC: THE GATHERING’ SETS FOR 2020

Source: https://icv2.com/articles/news/view/43973/wizards-coast-reveals-magic-the-gathering-sets-2020

Wizards of the Coast revealed the names the new Standard-legal Magic: The Gathering sets scheduled to be released in 2020. The announcement was made on their Twitter after a Throne of Eldraine spoiler countdown.
In Q1, Magic: The Gathering players will be returning to Theros, the planewalker Gideon’s antiquity-themed home plane. Gideon was killed in the War of the Spark timeline, so the title of the set, Theros: Beyond Death, might be an allusion to a plotline to rescue him from the underworld.

Q2 will see the release of a new plane, Ikoiria: Lair of the Behemoths. According to Mark Rosewater, Magic’s lead designer, “It’s a monster world!” where players will get to make their own monsters.

Core 2021 will hit stores in Q3, and it is expected to be akin to their yearly base sets.

Finally, Zendikar Rising is set for Q4. The Eldrazi are gone from Zendikar, and now, the native inhabitants take shape on a plane of adventure.

WIZARDS OF THE COAST UNVEILS ‘THRONE OF ELDRAINE HOLIDAY GIFT BUNDLE’

Wizards of the Coast unveiled its Throne of Eldraine Holiday Gift Bundle, a holiday gift package, to hit retail stores on November 15. This will be the second time in three years that Wizards of the Coast has repackaged its holiday product since doing away with the Holiday Gift Boxes during the Kaladesh cycle (see “Rolling for Initiative–‘Magic: The Gift Pack’ – Why the Change?”).

The new Throne of Eldraine Holiday Gift Bundle comes with the following: 20 regular basic lands, 20 foil basic lands, 10 Throne of Eldraine Draft Booster packs, a foil alt-art bundle promo card, an oversized Spindown life counter, and a Collector Booster. This product will also feature ‘special packaging’, which has not been revealed.

The biggest sales point for the Throne of Eldraine Holiday Gift Bundle for brick-and-mortar stores is that each bundle will come with a Collector Booster. The Collector Boosters are aimed at Magic players who want higher-end cards for their decks, and these boosters come loaded with collectible special frame and foil cards (see “Wizards of the Coast Unveils ‘Throne of Eldraine’ Product Line”). Collector Boosters are intended to be high demand products, and their inclusion in the Bundle is designed to drive sales over the Holiday season.
